TAG-Org and Consortium for Sustainable Urbanization Publish A Report on Public Spaces for Sustainable Urbanization

NEW YORK- Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) and the Consortium for Sustainable Urbanization (CSU) jointly published "Public Spaces for Sustainable Urbanization: Proceedings of the 5 October 2015 Conference at UN Headquarters."

The new publication follows other key books specialized in the subjects of future cities and refugees based on a ground-breaking event held under the patronage of HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on May 18, 2016, on the theme of "Large Movements of Refugees and Migrants: Challenges for Sustainable Urbanization" in which many leading personalities from the UN and top experts from around the world in the humanitarian and urbanization fields  made presentations on this burning issue and on other key subjects.

The "Public Spaces for Sustainable Urbanization" is a collection of presentations and panel discussion that took place at the UN headquarters in New York City. The contributors are experts who represent a wide range of fields and specializations in the area of sustainable urbanization

The book acknowledges HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh's vision and continuous support throughout the process of preparation during publishing the book in addition to other publications such as: The Future of Cities: An Integrated Approach to Urban Challenges.

According to the book, Public space is the heart of any community. The physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing of a community’s residents is impacted by the presence, allocation, design and respectful use of public space by citizens. The concept of ‘public space’ has been a topic of discussion and planning since the formation of the very first community. Public space is a critical and essential requirement for sustainable urbanization. As communities grow to become large urban centers, the complexity of making successful public spaces also grows and demands a heightened awareness of designers, planners and policy makers.

The book is in English and can be translated into other languages as per requests through Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Translation, Distribution and Publishing (TAG-Translate).

The Consortium for Sustainable Urbanization is a New York based, non- profit organization formed to promote a better understanding of the role of sustainable urbanization and resilient design in the planning of our cities with a newfound optimism about the urban future.
