Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum’s Investment Promotion Committee Convenes
AMMAN – Members of the Investment Promotion Committee, one of the 34 committees affiliate of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum (TAGKF), have recently met in the presence of Mr. Nidal Dabbas, advisor at Jordan Investment Commission (JIC). The meeting that took place at the Forum’s headquarters in Amman aimed at thoroughly understanding the Commission’s role and mechanisms in promoting investment as well as its plans in implementing cognitive and digital methods in its work .
The Committee is composed of a group of experts and volunteers who discuss and propose the best practices, regulations sand procedures to decision-makers, to fulfill the Forum’s mission in transforming Jordan to a knowledge-based society with a national GDP reaching $200 billion in 2040.
The participants underlined on the significance of transition to digital mechanisms in promoting investment.
Mr. Dabbas briefed the attendees on the JIC’s measures to promote investment and its plans for the application of digital procedures in its work.
He stated that all investment-supporting stakeholders in Jordan are connected to the JIC; the only entity that provides a comprehensive package of integrated services to investors who can benefit from these services by only communicating with the Commission and its liaison officers who will proceed with the necessary steps with the concerned authorities.
Mr. Dabbas stressed the importance of transforming into a knowledge-based society to combat corruption and bribery that hinder investment and negatively affect Jordan’s image abroad.
In their turn, members of the Committee discussed the problems and complications faced by investors and most notably the long period required to obtain necessary licenses and approvals from relevant official authorities. They also highlighted the importance of introducing a digital system that facilitates and simplifies procedures, in addition to the need for creating an investment-attracting environment, most particularly for Jordanian investors abroad.

Abed Al-Rahim Boucai (Former Member of Parliament and a Member of the Board of Directors at the Jordan Petroleum Refinery Management), Dr. Jamal Abu-Obaid (Executive Manager /Strategic Planning and Research Department – Housing Bank), and HE Dr. Nael AL-Husami (Amman Chamber of Industry), Mr. Issam Al-Samhouri (Director General of AJYAL Company for Accounting Services), Ms. Malak Al-Akiely (President of Golden Wheat Trading Company), Dr. Afaf Abu-Zerr (Accounting Department/ Philadelphia University), and Mr. Tarek Al-Khadrawi (Rum News Agency).
