Wellspring and Deep Web Technologies jointly develop search tool for tech scouting By David Schwartz Published: September 30th, 2015

Wellspring, a leader in technology transfer information systems, and Deep Web Technologies (DWT), a company specializing in next-generation federated search, have partnered to create a software system for companies and tech transfer offices to seek out and evaluate emerging innovations.

Search Once Scouting allows users to search simultaneously from more than thirty authoritative sources with over 100 million records, including databases for patents, publications, inventions and expertise. The system will be integrated into Wellspring’s software platform to offer a quick, simple way to discover promising technologies for commercial development. Search results are aggregated, ranked and de-duplicated to eliminate wasted effort.

“DWT’s tools and content integration are logical strategic steps of Wellspring’s product evolution,” says Dr. Robert Lowe, CEO of Wellspring. “The seamless integration enables our clients to find and import critical information without any data entry. Ultimately, the DWT partnership results in better informed decisions for our clients.”

Abe Lederman, CEO and chief technology officer at DWT, comments, “We are very excited to work with Wellspring in the technology scouting and corporate venturing market. We worked closely with Wellspring to provide their customers with access to accurate set of high-quality science and technology information sources, including Wellspring’s Flintbox, a leading technology marketplace for technology transfer and technology scout professionals.”

DWT and Wellspring will debut Search One Scouting at the Wellspring User Group Meeting in Chicago on October 8th and 9th.
