GAM and TAG-Org Join Forces to Transform GAM into a Smart Municipality

 

HE Mr. Akel Beltaji, Mayor of Amman stressed  that the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) is working on upgrading the quality of services provided to citizens in order to save efforts and time, and to achieve citizen satisfaction.

During a meeting with HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org), Mr. Beltaji recognized the initiative and support of TAG-Org in providing GAM with smart applications for different kinds of services so as to achieve the smart municipality within the coming three years.

Mr. Beltaji stated that the high volume of services provided and transactions processed by GAM necessitate the upgrading of services and working mechanisms to keep pace with the growth of the city and the requirements for modernization.

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh said that it is a national duty to enhance GAM’s efforts in this field, and that TAG-Org is implementing projects in several cities in the world to be transformed to smart cities, and the most recent was the corporation with the Emirate of Dubai to develop a strategy to transform Dubai into the smartest city in the world within 3 years.

He added that the world is currently experiencing a rapid transformation into smart cities, exceeding electronic cities, in order to simplify and facilitate different everyday requirements.

He said that including smart applications in different transactions is a key factor in the fight against corruption and bureaucracy.  He hoped that GAM becomes source of information for all ministries as well as for all governmental and private institutions.

Both sides agreed on establishing Talal Abu- Ghazaleh Knowledge Center at GAM; a center that is equipped with tools and programs, and aims to provide staff with the necessary training and to develop plans to transform GAM into a smart municipality and to serve the community.

TAG-Org has established a number of knowledge centers, in addition to one hundred new centers in process in different cities and villages of the Kingdom based on the social responsibility to enhance knowledge and develop youth and human resources.

During the meeting which was attended by a number of  representatives of both sides, it was considered to establish a link between GAM’s website and the related sites of the Organization, and to benefit from broadcasting GAM’s news in order to expand the base of followers locally, regionally, and globally.
